2025 / 2026 Leader Letter Week 25

To Healing Journey Leaders:

Week 25 is another foundational lesson, meaning it is vitally important students watch this teaching on forgiveness. It took us a long time to get here because many foundational layers needed to be in place before we could take on the BIGGIE! Now that we’re here, we will remain here till the end of the class, focusing on receiving healing for our wounds that were created by other people. This is often what drove students to the class in the first place, ongoing suffering with wounds like betrayal, rejection, and abandonment. It is FABULOUS when this stuff gets healed!

You will introduce Healing Step 4 at the end of small group this week, but the small group processing doesn’t start until week 26. The poster project that I mentioned in our letter last week will launch this final segment, as they depict on paper what their wound(s) looks like inside their heart and mind. Make sure everyone understands that no artistic talent is needed whatsoever. Because of the poster project, the small group time will be shorter this week.
The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out (Proverbs 20:5 NIV).
On a different note, it’s time to think about what’s next, after Healing Journey is over. I talked about growing your ministry in Leadership Letter 21. And part of a growing ministry is to constantly be growing new leaders. Ask the Lord to show you if he has any future leaders in your current class. If so, ask them to pray about being a leader.

If you don’t have any potential leaders this year, pray and ask the Lord to bring them from other sources. Always remember that the Lord is your source of power, protection, and provision. He has a plan for the future and has it well in hand! All you need to do is ask and follow his instructions. Ask him to set everything in motion now to accomplish his plan.

Enjoy the fruitfulness of these last few weeks and never stop leaning into the Lord as you lead your group.

I praise God for you!
…Relax and enjoy the journey.

Tip of the Week:

There are lots of ways to grow new leaders, but what works for most is for potential leaders to 1) take the class and work the healing steps into their own life, 2) return the next year and apprentice (see page 21 in the Class Facilitator Manual and pages 37-38 in the Leader Guide), 3) attend Boot Camp (it is fine to reverse the order of 2 & 3), then finally, 4) lead their own small group. Everybody is different and there are no rules about this, but this is generally a good plan.
